Sapele Wood is a tropical African hardwood that reaches extraordinary heights and diameters, reaching 45 metres in height and 10 metres in diameter. The colour of sapele changes from golden brown to a dark, crimson tint as it ages. Sapele is recognised for a broad range of figured grain patterns, including pommele, quilted, mottled, wavy, beeswing, and fiddleback, in addition to the ubiquitous ribbon pattern seen on quarter sawn boards. Sapele is a durable, strong, and dense wood that may be utilised both indoors and outside.
